1 Season 2 improvements? on Sun Dec 23, 2012 9:40 am

Hey guys, just thought il roll the ball early and see what can be done to make this season more enjoyable for everyone. Already you can see the criticism nearly after each game and this is the place to vent it out.

The admins im sure will try their best to improve things, we all know that lag is probably the main issue for most games. Don't forget that RF Haxball games need higher speed because of the bigger pitch.

So please go ahead and vent out your suggestions.
Mine for example:

- I feel extra-time is too difficult to facilitate, just have 20mins in total so that there can be no further issues about it
-I would like to suggest that fixed teamlists can be enabled so that there is a sure chance that numbers will turn up for matches
- Ref's decision (regardless who it is) is final !!
-Fair play policy is decided mutually between both teams and the ref as the mediator, since it is the ref who allows it, this should count to be his final decision
- Abusing other players should be stricter because it doesn't achieve anything.
- Friendly rivalries add some drama to the game, hope to see some grudges already taking place for 2nd season.
- Tournaments should be set up & other leagues (e.g handball, racing) should be encouraged.

Probably left something out. Anyway, rabble on.

I would like to add that:
- A red card means an automatic 1 game ban, and 2 yellows over a season incur a 1 game ban. For every additional red card, a longer ban is instated. i.e. 1st red = 1 game ban, 2nd red = 2 game ban, etc. This is to discourage foul play and unsportsmanlike behaviour.
- A team should be made to forfeit if more than one player is sent off in a match, once again this is used as a calming measure.
- A team of the week decided by captains and admins

I'm desperately looking for an answer of an admin to the question I've asked in a topic a few days earlier :

Do you accept the participation of a French team in your league for season 2 ?

We are 11 players motivated by this championship, we are serious players and we just want to have some fun with all of you.

I think it's a win-win situation, but we need a serious answer from an admin of RFL forum : yes or no, I want to know if you accept us for the season 2 of RFL.

Thanks for your answer !

We've already said yes, but its an 8 man squad max, 4 on pitch at a time, and only 1 sub in the lobby.

Warburton you have to atleast sign up for captaincy and not get it straight away. So go sign up and then maybe your application will be picked by Me and the team of admins.

I like the ideas, but this can be abused. I was getting a yellow for subbing in the ACT vs TMS match.

I propose that ADMINS ONLY can referee the games, like it says in the rules. There could also be a sort of referee training thing where you have to learn how to ref and if you pass, you'll be put onto a list of referees.

Agree.

Not really sure what this is suggesting.

- Ref's decision (regardless who it is) is final !!

Thats the rule anyway tbh, though we can focus on this more.

-Fair play policy is decided mutually between both teams and the ref as the mediator, since it is the ref who allows it, this should count to be his final decision

It's hard to enforce fairplay, people just need to remember this is a fun league and should treat it accordingly, fairplay is somewhat moderated by referees though.

- Abusing other players should be stricter because it doesn't achieve anything.

This is not tolerated anyway, and it cannot be moderated 100% of the time, grow up and ignore it.

- Friendly rivalries add some drama to the game, hope to see some grudges already taking place for 2nd season.

Nothing us admins can really do about that tbh.

- Tournaments should be set up & other leagues (e.g handball, racing) should be encouraged.

This happens anyway, and is up to individuals to set up as the league is rfl and does not have the admin staff to facilitate and more than this at the current point.

Probably left something out. Anyway, rabble on.

Can be abused by unfair reffing, squad size is not big enough in all honesty, not the worst idea.

- A team should be made to forfeit if more than one player is sent off in a match, once again this is used as a calming measure.

Can be abused by unfair reffing, not needed and having 2 players is pretty much a loss anyway.

- A team of the week decided by captains and admins

Feel free to do this yourself, but be warned this will create conflict and not everyone can watch all the replays and judge.

I personally feel extra time should be left as it is.
Set the game to no time limit then let the ref blow his whistle when he sees fit - an error in the dying seconds (such as mistaken goal kick instead of corner) would mean "bring it back", by which time the game would be finished. Time wasting while the ball is out of play can also be counteracted more easily.

Agree with mlf on the other points, don't think too much needs to change.

Perhaps we could restrict substitution to a maximum of three changes in a match? Bit more realistic then I guess...

1. i think there should be a max upto 3 subs , maybe 2 atleast you could change the game around if its going bad for you. only bad thing is about my idea is maybe the host cant handle upto 14 players or more..

2. i was thinking the admins choose a manager of the month perhaps? or player of the month? this would be really cool

3. Instant yellow card for time wasting over 10 seconds would stop alot of time wasters and we could play fairly

4. Season 3 idea , i was thinking admin picks every player a number ex 1.2.3.4 Ect and every cap has too choose 8 numbers then them 8 picked play for the team who they have been picked for , cus sometimes all the best 8 are at one team? doesn't make it very challenging for them , atleast with this way it could be more competitive..

Thanks <3

So you're suggesting in point 4 that the league introduces some sort of draft system?

Already thinking about Season 3? Lets take it one step at a time. And choosing a player at random by picking a number isn't a wise idea. Captains should choose who they want in their team, doing it randomly could mean players are stuck with people they don't like (A lot of conflict on here).

I honestly don't see why we need to reset the teams and do a draft or sign ins. Just keep the teams the same and have a transfer window. Then for the rest of the league, you can cut players but not sign them.

Well, some may or may not agree with what I'm about to suggest we should try for the league. I was thinking of making the League more realistic etc. So I thought of making the league go to a 5v5 league so teams could have custom formations for their team so it would be similar to real life football.

I know some may moan and say that 5s is too crowded but it's actually not, maybe 6s are crowded but In my opinion I believe that 5s are actually more enjoyable then 4s as its good for passing around etc.

My final suggestion is what kouki said earlier today in a RFL room, he suggested that we could make players have values and give clubs a certain amount of hmm, how could I put this. Fake money? So that the realism is still in the league and captains would say how much a players worth or the admins should discuss what they're worth.

I know this is a bit too much work but I'd volunteer for it and I could try get some other volunteers for it...
Thanks for listening/reading and express your opinions below.

Cheers! Skjöld.

Great ideas sk! I agree with ya son

Yeah 5v5 is good, more passing options as well as different formations, for example when your team is winning you can play 2-1-1, or when you're losing and need goals, change to 1-2-1 or 1-2-2.

We can organise a 5v5 cup to see how it works out, this season will stay 4v4 as that is what we are all used to and how it works best at the moment. The money system is just a no, its been suggested on many many many other forums and the idea is just flawed, for many reasons but mostly because of arguments over players' worth due to the fact that there is no actual scale of how good you are at rfl and hax in general.

Well the way I saw it is that there is no set value for any player.

More players sign a contract, and they have to keep playing to meet the contract. If they cut themselves and go and play for another team without their captain's consent, their new team faces fines.

As for the valuing players, if a club wants to buy a player they can make an offer, and the club can decide whether or not they wish to accept the offer. It was just a brief idea in passing, and I could see many potential flaws - would need time to think it through.

Been thinking on the 5v5 though, and as I've played this map 8v8 without too much trouble, 5's would be good. But I agree it's worth testing first.

Number 4 is a great idea cos it would be ufair on other players

Number 4 isnt a good idea. The only league IRL that uses something similar is the MLS which is a sub par league and is suffering because of it (Only high profile players are at the twilight of their careers and the competitiveness of the league is poor). It also gives no team the kind of fluency that we have at the moment as some teams want to keep their players on, and some players want to have a career at one club, etc. If someone who truly understands the MLS draft can explain it to everyone then we may consider it but otherwise people will become disinterested when their put with 7 players they've never even spoken to, yet alone played with. I hope I've explained this well but if not then tell me.

Both of you are just as bad as each other to be honest, and please only use this thread for serious suggestions. On that note, can we have a place where all the replays are accessible to people as this is one thing that has diminished this season.
